iCal/Entourage Sync

I use Entourage at work with an Exchange server, but iCal everywhere else and across multiple computers. In order to get my work calendar on all my computers, I synced iCal and Entourage on my work machine. Since upgrading to Mac Office 2008, I am unable to sync iCal and Entourage at all. Events added to either calendar do not show up in the other, despite the fact that this worked perfectly in Entourage 2004.

I am also syncing an iPhone, which, judging from other posts, may also add a factor to the whole sync problem. However, I tried removing the iPhone from the equation by removing its syncing to my computer and still nothing happens re: iCal and Entourage.

I have also tried renaming my current "Entourage" calendar in iCal to see if Entourage would create a new one and still nothing.

Any thoughts about how I can get this working again would be appreciated.

I figured it out. First, I turned off iCal syncing (both within Entourage and with .Mac). Then, I went into my ~/Library and deleted my iCal prefs and all of my calendar caches. When I reopened iCal, all of the correct calendars and entries showed up. I turned syncing back on and everything seems to be working again.

Can you be more specific, I have the same problem and did what I think you
are describinh, but it did not work. Maybe I did not delete the correct
files.

Yes, I can. I followed these steps:

1) Back up your iCal calendars using the Backup... menu item in iCal. (I backed mine up to the Desktop, but you can put it anywhere.) Quit iCal.
2) Turn off iCal syncing in Entourage. Quit Entourage.
3) Open System Preferences and turn off Calendar syncing in the .Mac Sync tab (if you use it).
4) Navigate to your user folder>Library>Preferences folder. Drag the com.apple.iCal.plist file to the Trash.
5) Navigate to the Calendars folder inside your user folder>Library and drag everything in there to the Trash. (As a precaution, don't yet empty the Trash.)
6) Open iCal. It should have reverted to its unmodified state, i.e., it only has Work and Home calendars.
7) Open Entourage and turn iCal syncing back on. In the popup dialog box, select the first option, Merge Information. Click OK (or Sync, I can't remember).
8) Go back to iCal. Your calendar information should now match Entourage's.
9) If everything is correct, turn .Mac syncing back on (if you use it).
10) Create a test calendar event in Entourage, save it, and switch to iCal. Give it up to 30 seconds or so and it should appear in iCal.
11) If everything works, you can safely empty the Trash, but I'd keep your backup for a little while to make sure it's okay.
12) If this whole process doesn't work for you, you can revert to your previous iCal calendars by restoring from your backup.

This seems to have worked for me, since iCal and Entourage have been happily playing together for the last two weeks. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Good luck!

This worked great for me. Thank you for posting this. It is still early to
tell if it will continue to work but for right now it is working. I also
use SpanningSync so this was a lifesaver.

Well it looks like the celebration didn¹t last too long for me. After about
two hours more errors so I had to turn syncing off again. Hopefully, there
will be an update that will fix this sometime soon.

I tryed to get this to work, and still no calander will auto populate in ical. I am very frustrated at this point. I have read several forums all saying to delet the preference stuff, and it will work, and it still does not work for me. Man I just want a ah it worked finaly moment. several people at my work seem to have the same issue, and none of us can figure out why.
