ide drivers

When I reboot my system it says 'Found New Hardware', VIA bus master IDE
drivers.
Then the FNH wizard pops up to help install software for VIA bus master IDE
drivers.

I check the 'install software automatically' option and it responds,
Hardware not installed because wizard cannot find the necessary software?

I really don't even know what VIA bus master IDE driver is? I haven't added
any new hardware.

I do have a 4 port USB hub attached (but I don't recall any software) and it
will occasionally not recognize my iPAQ.
I don't know if this is related or not.

I should also note that this began following a reformat of my hard drive and
a reinstallation of XP.

This information may be quite vague, but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
L D

This has nothing to do with Office. Perhaps you need to post your question
in the appropriate OS's newsgroup.

You reformatted / reinstalled win but failed to install mobo chipset and
other drivers specific to your hardware
These obtained from origonal cd's supplied with your sys, or PC manu if
likes of Dell / HP, or Laptop manu, or hardware manu sites. NOT winupdate
And if you used the default newsreader OE you would probably have found the
winxp newsgroups

Thank you. I'll try the mobo cd. I thought I installed everything.

Also, I am new to this discussion group thing (can you tell?). I had a
question earlier regarding Office, that was addressed successfully, and
didn't realize I was still in the 'Office' discussion group...sorry.

Thank you for your help.

It's not like you're the first. Sometimes people post here just because they
found it. That's it - no other reason. They aren't aware that there are
hundreds of MS newsgroups to choose from.

Good luck getting everything taken care of.
