If I created a new project start date of it by default goes 2003

Whenever I create a new project the start date of the new project goes to
05/18/2003. I am not able to understand the reason of it. Every time I have
to go to project information window to fix the project start date issue. I
would like to have the option as until I enter any date for the newly entered
task, project should not of its own add a default date for the newly entered
task. I am creating a master schedule of all of my projects by on the fly
copying tasks from several MSP files with the help of a Macro written in MSP.
Now as by default the start date of any new project created is going to year
2003, so all the actual dates of my copied tasks from several projects into
master project is getting disturbed.

Dipak,
What you want is the New Project info window to pop up when you create a
new file. Normally this is the default but apparently the option has
been changed on your installation. Go to Tools/Options/General tab.
Check the option that says, "Prompt for project info for new projects".
This is particularly helpful if you are creating a static master (it
sounds like you are since you mention copy/paste). The master Project
Start Date should be set to the earliest date of all subprojects. Be
careful however, as this will cause all tasks that do not have a
Start-no-eralier-than constraint to "slam" over to the Project Start
Date. This is not an issue if you are creating a dynamic master (i.e.
subprojects linked in but not actually a part of the master). In that
case each subproject will maintain its own Project Start Date.

Hope this helps.
