I'm attemting to push the "IF" function past it's limit I
think. I want to run a set of numbers and depending on the
number, I want the cell to turn colors. If the answer is
1, then I want it to display a 1 with a red background. If
it's a 2, then an orange background. I know the formula to
get the 1,2,3 part. How do, if it's possible, do you
change the format of the cell from there?

Conditional formatting limits you to 3 conditions and
hence, 3 fill colors. To achieve more requires VBA.
