Import Emails from Outlook Express not working properly?

A

acapella

Hi,

I just upgraded from Oulook Express to Outlook and I imported all the emails
and settings from Outlook Express. The problem I'm having is that many of
the emails I imported from my old Inbox (about 1/3 of them) are being shown
with the "Received" date "8/31/2005 8:41 PM". That's the date and time when
I imported the emails, not when I originally received them. I don't
understand why certain emails got that wrong "received" date and others
where imported with the right date. Any help as to how to solve this
problem?

Thanks

Cristian

You might have more luck with Aid4Mail. It can read your Outlook Express
mail folders and export messages to MS Outlook. Dates and mail status
information (unread, read, replied, etc.) are all correctly restored. More
information about Aid4Mail and a download link available on the following
Web site:

Use Outlook Express' File > Export to export the messages into Outlook
and all of the dates will remain correct.

RUBBISH! All the OP has to do is to export FROM Outlook Express. I know
you might be trying to earn a living, but your constant advertising in
newsgrouops of a paid-for program where there is a free method is
bordering on SPAM.

Gordon,

Okay, so there is a workaround I wasn't aware of. Great. But what I said is
not rubbish!

I don't understand your repeated attacks when I post here. Am I somehow
treading on your turf? Remember this is a public forum! Labeling my small
number of posts as "constant advertising" is a gross exageration and your
spam insinuation is an insult.

Your patronizing posts gives the impression that your presence here is
completely altruistic. Are your hundreds of messages in this newsgroup
really completely disinterested? Or are you perhaps hoping for an MVP
status? Considering the amount of time you spend in newsgroups I sincerely
hope you'll earn the title. It'll give extra credibility to your business
and maybe increase your income.

Also, I see you don't hesitate to advertise your business in newsgroups. The
not-so-innocent link to your Web site below your signature appears in 5,390
posts according to Google. I don't mind, you need to earn a living too! So
you, like me, are using newsgroups to make your services' Web site known to
others. It's just that we don't have the same kind of products and the
approach to make them known is different. So be it.

Eric - most folks here don't mind an advertisement for one's own product
offensive. The only thing I personally find offensive is if a person posts
about a great product but omits the little fact that it is THIER product.
(See dictionary.com for the definition of "shill.")

There are several people who post here and advise that their product will do
what the original poster needs to do - folks such as Thomas Quester, Victor
(oh boy, I will probably spell his last name wrong!) Ivadnaze, WS Repeat
Appointment, and others. No one objects, except those that have a problem
with a straightforward ad for a product that does what Outlook cannot, or
cannot without tweaking.

So, in conclusion, please feel free to post about your product if it solves
the user's problem. Just be aware that folks will always take exception to
what you post, irrespective of the content of the post or whether it answers
the original question.

Thanks for your comments Milly, and I agree with the above. That's why my
signature clearly identifies me as the author of the software programs that
I mention in newsgroup posts.

Sorry for the trouble this has caused and hopefully will not be a problem in
the future.

There are some folks who are a bit "foaming at the mouth" when it comes to
product advertisements.

My question is, how do I export all mail from Outlook Express to
Outlook 2003? And from Outlook 2003 into Outlook Express?
Always use Outlook Express' File > Export and Import and you'll be
fine.
