import from excel template changes future start date to 1998?

On import form Excel to Project 2003 using Project Excel Template, future
"Start" dates in Task_Table sheet have year changed to 1998. Future "Finish"
dates are not changed.

Any suggestions on how to avoid this?

I assume by "future" Start and Finish you are referring to what is
normally called "schedule" Start and Finish. My guess is that the
Project file into which the Excel data is being imported has a Project
Start Date (Project/Project Information) of 1998. What I don't
understand is why the Start date is changing but not the Finish date
because that means the Duration also has to change. Something tells me
there is another problem with the way you have the schedule data
structured in Excel.
