Import from Excel User specified Contact Information

How can I import contact information from MS Excel when I have may contact
fields that are not standard in Outlook (and so do not appear in the import
dialog)?

You will have to modify the spreadsheet so that the fields match that of
Outlook.

I'm afraid that won't work. Outlook doesn't support importing to a custom fields. You'd have to write custom code or use a third-party application. See http://www.outlookcode.com/d/customimport.htm.
