Importing contacts list from MS Entourage to ACT!

M

Hi,

I am trying to import my contacts list from MS Entourage on a Mac
running OSX to ACT! on a Dell running Windows XP.

We tried exporting the contact list from Entourage, but ACT! does not
recognize the file format for the list.

Thanks.

You need to choose the option to Export as a Text File - File>Export>[Local
contacts to a list (tab-delimited text)] - make sure the filename has a .txt
extension.

Thank you.

New problem/issue!!

I opened up ACT! and went to File->Data Exchange->Import and continued
through the dialog, selecting to import a text-delimited file type.
From here I created a new map to send over data that wasn't properly
represented by ACT!

This is where I ran into a strange problem. A dialog popped up telling
me there were file(s) with similar information and to choose which ones
to merge with, but there were no files to choose from nor could I type
any in.
The bottom of the dialog box had the options Merge, Add, and Skip, but
if I clicked on any of them nothing happened! The box with empty
fields would just reappear over and over and over again!

Help!

Afraid I don't know what to tell you on that issue... Used ACT! & even
taught classes at one time, but have been away from it for several years. If
you can open the text file in TextEdit, Word or Excel I don't see why ACT!
should balk. For more on that you'll probably need to go through their
support channels. If other software has trouble opening/importing the same
file report it back to the microsoft.public.office.entourage newsgroup to
help determine why the output isn't working.

hrmph!

this is a toughy, indeed.

It seems ACT! has no trouble regonizing and reading the file up until
the point of merging. Perhaps I should try the other file choices and
sort of run a trial and error experiment.

Thank you for your time and help.
