Importing from Excel: subtasks, links & multiple resource names

I am using MS Project 2003 SP3. I am trying to import a large Exce
2003 spreadsheet and am having a few difficulties:
1) all the tasks are in one column. How to I specify the subtasks?
have tried indenting the cell (in Excel), but this doesn't work.
2) How can I import the links? I assume I must import th
predecessor(s). This means that I identify an ID for each line in Exce
(compatible with MSP), then use the same reference system for th
predecessor. How can I specify more than one predecessor?
3) How can I import more than one resource per task? I tried puttin
two resource names in an Excel cell (separated by "," ex: Fred, Susie)
but after the import MSP takes this as one long resource name (
resource called "Fred, Susie").

Thanks

You must define the Outline Level for this. That's the only way you can
import and create subtasks (indent). For example:

Outline Level,Name
1,Top Level
2,Task One
2,Task Two
2,Next Level
3,Task Three
2) How can I import the links? I assume I must import the
predecessor(s). This means that I identify an ID for each line in Excel

predecessor.

Yes.

How can I specify more than one predecessor?

Enclose with quotes. ex:

ID,Name,Predecessors
1,Task One,
2,Task Two,
3,Task Three,"1,2"
4,Task Four,3
3) How can I import more than one resource per task? I tried putting
two resource names in an Excel cell (separated by "," ex: Fred, Susie),
but after the import MSP takes this as one long resource name (a
resource called "Fred, Susie").

Enclose in quotes. "Fred,Susie"

Thanks Jim,

All your suggestions worked great, except the importing of multiple
predecessors. I have tried using quotes, marking the Excel cell as
Text, and various combinations but can't get it to work.

Any other suggestions?

Try importing this:

ID,Name,Predecessors
1,Task One,
2,Task Two,
3,Task Three,"1,2"
4,Task Four,3

If this works, try posting a small sample of what you are trying to import and I'll try it.
