Importing Photos in Publisher 2007

I create a empty picture frame and copy and paste a photo into it but it
doesn't fit within the picture frame parameters. I end up having to resize
the photo everytime and didn't have to do this in an earlier Publisher
version.

The empty frame will insert the picture proportionally. Insert your picture
without the frame and resize it.
Earlier versions of Publisher did the same except version 2002, when you
inserted the frame in 2002, Windows Explorer would open.
If you want the picture to maintain a certain size, create a one cell table,
right-click, format, size tab. Type your dimensions.

With your cursor in the cell, fill, fill effects, picture tab. Be aware, you
will see some distortion if the proportions of the table are out of kilter with
the proportions of the image.

Hmmm, creating a one cell table doesn't work for me. Like you mentioned the
proportions are off. I was using Publisher 2000 and I had no problem copying
and pasting a photo into a photo box without losing the proportions. Does
anyone else have a suggestion I can try?

You don't actually lose proportions pasting into an empty picture frame,
pictures are automatically proportioned to fit either width or height. For
example if you create a frame 7 inches high by 5 inches, the photo will end up 7
inches high but will have width proportional. If the photo is landscape then it
will take on the proportion of the width.

So the answer to your problem is to create the frame with either the width or
height you prefer. Right-click the frame, format picture, size tab.

I haven't found that to be the case. For example I create a picture frame
that's 3" x 3" and when I paste the photo into the frame it ends up being 5"
x 7" and sometimes much bigger depending on the photo.

In the size tab, uncheck the lock aspect ratio.

I am not seeing your issue. I can insert the default picture frame, leave it at
the default
.75" X 1" size and paste a photo; the frame will not change.

Nope, not working for me. Maybe I'm not explaining it right. The photo does
not import/paste into the photo frame I created. The photo ends up elsewhere

k - what I ended up doing was saving the photo to my hard drive, in Publisher
creating 'picture from file' and importing that way (which worked).

What I was trying to do and am able to do with Publisher 2000 is copy the
photo directly from the application it opens in for example windows explorer
or Windows Picture and Fax Viewer and paste it into the Publisher 2007 doc
without having to save it to my hard drive first. But can't seem to do this
in Publisher 2007 as it does what I mentioned in the email below.

I cannot duplicate your original problem at all with Pub 2007. I can do
exactly what you describe without any trouble.

I've read your 2nd paragraph in this last post 4 times and am still not sure
what you mean. HOW are you viewing an image with Windows Explorer or WPFV
unless it's on your machine to begin with?

Perhaps you should outline in very simple steps what you are doing that
fails so we can understand how you are getting the result you are.
