Importing pics from internet

I find pictures and save them on my comuter. When I am in powerpoint and do
the insert; picture; from file, usually as thumbnails I see a preview, but
with these I can't. I press insert and a pop up comes up asking me to CONVERT
FILE FROM and gives me a list. I tried all of them but none work. It says an
ERROR OCCURED WHILE IMPORTING THIS FILE. Help!

How are you saving the files when you save them from the internet?

Do you have permissions to use the images?

I am doing a research on down syndrome for biology and need pictures of John
Langdon Haydon Down and others. I will present it as a powerpoint and I have
to write the url from where I received the pic under the pic. I can only save
it as .art or .bmp I don't have any other choices just those two.

Gotcha. I think that falls under "fair use" for education, at least here in
the US.

Like Steve, I'm thinking the .ART files are an AOL thing. Maybe you can
minimize the AOL browser, open Internet Explorer, navigate to the
appropriate URL, right-click the image, and use Save Target As to save the
images.

That's what I'd try, anyway.
