I am trying to move files from my old computer to a new
one.

When trying to import .pst file into Outlook from a CD
get "access denied...don't have permission"....

How do I eliminate that message and "get permission" ???

You have to copy the file to your local disk first...(ie: C drive) That
should solve your problem!

Dear Derek:

How very kind, thank you. It works!!!!

May I impose upon you for another question?

I have just got a new Sony VGN A190 laptop which has a
relatively small C drive and a large D drive because of
the media capabilities.

In older versions of Outlook one could run Outlook in "C"
but store everything in "D". I cannot find this
capability in Outlook 2003, is there a way of doing
this????

Mike...

In Control Panel, click the mail icon. Look Under > Data Files/Settings/Add
You will have to create a new personal folder on your D drive and route any
new mail there.

See my reply to your later post on this subject (Derek replied to that one
also)...I respectfully disagree with his answer since there is an easier
method.

Once you move the file to your HD and remove the read-only, as suggested by
Derek, you can simply open the .PST file in Outlook using File | Open. You
should never need to use import and export to move data between Outlook
installations.
