I understand how basic this is, but I've got no idea what the feature is
actually called so I can't find it anywhere (or in the help menu).

I just want, with each click, for the different text boxes to slide in.

Are this ordinary text boxes with one or some words in them. Then select all
those text boxes, and in the custom animation task pane (view - Task pane -
click on the little arrow right at the top of the pane, choose custom
animation) click on Add effect. Choose entrance and select the desired
effect. Now next to begin be sure to select 'on click'.
Are these text boxes with different paragraphs and you want to animate them
one by one, then have a look here:
