In Publisher how do I get invoice numbers to update automatically

I am setting up my invoices using Publisher. I have got the date to change
automatically, but can I also get the invoice number to change automatically?

Use Mail Merge.

You can't unless you do several invoices with the same date, then as JoAnn
advised, use mail merge. Setup a data base with your numbers.
Numbers are not automatic in Publisher. You would need a program such as Excel.
