"Insert as a Printout" stopped working for pdf files

I started using OneNote 2007 about two weeks ago for class. The functionality
is great, but I came across a problem. For no reason (I've changed no
settings on any of my Microsoft products and I even have tried disabling all
my antivirus, antispyware, and firewall programs), I no longer can "insert as
a printout" pdf files into OneNote, with either Foxit or Adobe as my
preferred pdf reader (though I am almost positive that is irrelevant). I
could do it last week, but not today - even the same files as the ones I used
before. Any way to fix this issue?

Thank you very much for your willingness to help. Hopefully this problem is
resolvable. When I try to drag it in, there option is not presented; not does
the option appear when I go through the insert menu. The error message for
when I try to insert a PDF using "Files as Printout" says, "The file you have
selected cannot be inserted as a printout. There may be a problem with the
file, or you may not have the right program installed. You must first install
a program that can open and print this type of file, and then try again."

Since my last post I have noticed that the problem has gotten worse. When I
initially had the problems with the PDFs, I tried a Word 2007 document, which
would import as printout. Now Word, PowerPoint, and Excel will not Insert as
a Printout through either through dragging or inserting. Incidentally, the
message I get for trying to import a Word document now is the same I
originally got when trying to import a PDF: "The OneNote print driver is not
installed properly. Go to the Help menu and click Office Diagnostics to
repair your installation."

Office Diagnostics said everything was fine. I've tried uninstalling and
reinstalling the Office Enterprise 2007 software (and looked in vain on the
internet for a OneNote print driver - of course, but I had to try.) but that
did not solve the problem. I ran out of ideas. If there is anything you can
do to help, I'd greatly appreciate it - I've been unable to really use the
program since the import function stopped working.

Ben,

After I got done replying to your earlier message, I retried uninstalling
and reinstalling OneNote. This time the OneNote Printer did show up in my
"Printers" box and I now have the functionality. The only thing I did prior
to do this was to eliminate Spyware Terminator as a program on my computer
(though it was installed prior to the installation of OneNote). I do not know
if there was a conflict or if Spyware Terminator had anything to do with it
nor do I know why the printer driver disappeared in the first place or why it
did not reappear the first time I tried to reinstall. Nevertheless, the
functionality is back (and hopefully will stay). I just want to thank you
again for responding to the post and to inform you that it seems to work now.
Have a good weekend.

Mr. Schorr,

Guess what? It stopped working again - so the earlier message of it being
solved was incorrect. The printer driver is there; I've turned off all my
antispyware, etc programs; I've unitstalled and reinstalled over a dozen
times. Except for the one fluke where it worked, I can't get it to insert
PDFs as printouts. Do you or anyone else have any idea what I am doing wrong?
Thank you.

My group has also experienced this, you get an error dialog telling you that
you don't have an app or program to open or print this type of file ( in my
case a pdf).

Oddly if I log on to my PC as an administrator, it all works, and I logged
onto a laptop running Vista, Off2007, and ON2007 and got the same error,
while I clearly have a program that can open pdf on both machines. Reinstalls
etc have no help.

And, if I open the pdf using adobe and "print" to OneNote Printer, it all
works...

Very strange...

Have you made sure that the "Send To OneNote2007"-printer's port is selected as "Send To Mincrosoft OneNote Port"?
