Inserted images NOT SNUG to margin in Word 2007

In Word 2007, pictures inserted In Line with Text via Insert > Illustrations
Group > Picture do not sit snugly against margins or table cell borders.
After experimenting a bit with image positioning in Picture Tools > Format >
Position > More Layout Options, it appears that images are inserted with
approximately 0.02" offset from the actual margin or border. This
misalignment is also noticeable by the fact that text on lines directly above
or below the inserted image is justified exactly on the margin or table cell
border but the image is visibly not justified, however slightly.

Curiously, this did not happen in Word 97-2003. In fact, when a 2007 .docx
with such askew inserted images is "Saved As" a Word 97-2003 .doc, the images
reposition ever so slightly so that they are aligned perfectly with
margins/table cell borders and any justified text directly above and below.
But this is not a solution, as the 97-2003 .doc format forces you to give up
advantages of the Word 2007 .docx format. We should be able to have
perfectly justified "In Line with Text" images in Word's most current format.

I have come to rely heavily on formatting images and text using tables, as
many Word gurus suggest. Indeed, many have posted instructions (largely
dating back to Word 97-2003) saying that inserting images "In Line with Text"
into table cells will automatically get them to "sit snugly up against table
cell borders." Somehow this extremely useful formatting trick has gone awry
in Word 2007.

For some reason, I find this very frustrating--first, because the
new-and-improved Word 2007 seems to have created a problem that didn't exist
in 97-2003, and second, because there doesn't seem to be any fix whatsoever.

But I'm hoping one of you savvy users can prove me wrong...please reply with
any solutions! Thanks a million!
