inserting file with columns - where did they go?

I am inserting a file with 2 columns into a single column document. I want the file I am inserting to retain the 2 column formatting - but it is turning into a single column. Any ideas how I can get the file to insert and keep the 2 column settings

go. Format the section for two columns.

I need the columns to automatically retain their formatting so the users don't have to go back and reformat the section. (This is a document that is being created automatically by many files). I'm trying to find out if it is a bug that on Insert>File column formatting is lost - or if there is a workaround

Hi Tina

You need to add a section break at the end of the imported file, so that it
brings its section formatting with it.

(the angle in this article is how to *avoid* bringing in section
information, but it explains the mechanisms in detail).
