Inserting small text under a line in office

I am a teacher writing a permission slip. I am trying to write a small blurb,
parent/gaurdian, under a line_________. Just to state who is to sign, without
using another line. How do I do this? Thank you.

If you want "parent/guardian" below the underline, then you have to type that

Type an underline, and then on the next line, use a superscript
(Shift-Ctrl-"+"). You might want to use a soft carriage return between the two
lines so you don't get the extra space you would normally get between
paragraphs. Or make sure that the space between the paragraphs is zero.
