Install Office 2003 and revert back to Office 2002

I installed Office 2003, ran into problems with another
program, uninstalled it and re-installed Officed 2002.
Now, when I open Word, It opens for a second, I see the
installer trying to install something, and then Word
closes. When I open Excel, I receive the message, " This
workbook has lost its VBA project, Active X controls and
any other programmability related functions", when I click
ok, I see the installer trying to install something, and
then Excel closes. Does anyone know how to get around
this issue?
