Installing Office XP

My computer crashed a few weeks ago and so I had to re-install everything,
luckily when I bought this computer it came with all of the CDs neccessary
for installing everything. I bought this computer from Dell so someone over
the phone was helping me through everything on the phone but she had me hang
up and install the things that we easier on my own but when I went to install
the Office XP I needed a product key number, well I didn't have that so I
contacted Dell, they gave me a generic number so that I could install it. It
worked for about a week or so but I had to activate it, when I called to
activate it, it said that the identification was invalid and that I need to
call my computer manufacturer. When I did that and told them what happened
they had me delete the Office XP and re-install it, I did so and that time
when I enterd the generic product key I was given it said it was invalid!!!!
Then they said there was no such generic product key number so I'm a screwed,
frustrated college student with no Microsoft Word, can anyone help!!!???
