Installing Office

S

Sammy

I recently built a new computer and have installed Windows XP Pro 2 and
everything seems to work fine except that when I insert the Office XP disk it
crunches around and then stops. No error messages appear but the disk shows
as containing no files. When I run it on another computer it works normally.
Could there be something blocking the installation? My old computer had the
Original first version of XP Pro and I installed the Service Packs after
first installing Office. Is there possibly something that needs to be
changed in the registery or other settings? Really would appreciate a clue
here. Thanks.

Have you checked whether your CD drive is working? Insert another CD
and see if it auto-opens or try to browse it with windows explorer.

The machine is self built so it looks like the Cd drive is not working
as it should. I appreciate that you have installed the Winxp SP2
perhaps using the CD but still double check it is still operational
after Windows was installed. Try non Windows CD please.

Also just tried to read the disk in "CMD" and it won't read it and says:
"The volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure
that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not
corrupted."

Yes, CD drive is working fine as far as I can tell. I have install several
other programs and copies files from backup disks etc with no problems. It
seems to be only the Office XP disk so I suspect there is some issue with
Window not wanting me to install it for some reason. Maybe a clash with the
operating system or something like that?
