integrated tasks in Master Plan

Using MSP 2007 Pro but saving in 2003 std...I need to manage multiple plans
that I am inserting into a Master Plan. Each subplan uses the same template,
but when inserted, I cannot figure out how to see an accumulation of all
plans for a particular set of summary tasks. For example, if I have a
template plan with the following that I give to each team to fill out for
their activities (each team may not address each task).

Summary Task 1
Detailed Task A
Detailed Task B
...
Summary Task 2
Detailed Task C
Detailed Task D
Detailed Task E
...

Let's say Team A and Team B each address Summary Task 1 in their respective
subplans. I cannot get accumulated EVA metrics for Summary Task 1 for the
project, only for each individual subplan. Thus, I may get EVA metrics for
Team A Summary Task 1 and then a separate calculation for Team B. I need
both together.

Put a custom flag or text field in if looking for more values, tag the tasks,
then in Task Usage View, Group By that field to get the roll ups. Same
applies for say resources, apply a value and group by in Resource Usage.

Let me know if this is what you are looking for. Helps me to pivot data for
internal/external or phase or client tasks, etc.

Thanks, Sean. I'll try this.

What I did in the meantime takes a lot of work and I still won't be able to
get the EV metrics I want, but I can see all the summary tasks form the
various plans together under the respective summary tasks in this manner:

I duplicated the summary tasks below the inserted plans, then set links from
those summary tasks to the respective summary tasks within each subplan. In
order to get the dates correct, I had to create Begin (linked as SS) and End
(linked as FF) subtasks within those summary tasks in the duplicated set,
which is a real hassle. I was going to have to create a macro to calculate
the EV metrics I couldn't get otherwise, which is another real hassle.

However, if your suggestion works, it will be quite a time and effort saver.

I am not sure MicroSoft completely thought through the Master Plan (inserted
projects) concept without going to Enterprise Project Server. Way to sell an
upgrade, I guess.

Thanks again...I'll let you know the outcome!
