IS THE KEYBOARD REALLY TURNED OFF?

Greg

All of a sudden it is as if my keyboard has been turned off when attempting
to create a new document in Word. I have a fully licensed version and have
been using Word for quite some time before this problem occurred.

It's strange because I can use WordArt - yet when I try and type in the main
body of the document, nothing happens. I'm not using Master Documents, nor
is the document protected, nor can I alter other Word documents I have
created.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance,

Are you using a Mac? This is a MacWord group. Assuming you are:

First test the keyboard in TextEdit to make sure Word is the problem,
and not the system or the hardware.

For problems that affect all new documents, the first thing to do is
test the Normal Template, the basis for all new documents. Instructions
here:

Other standard troubleshooting fixes are listed here--test the
Preferences second.

What version of Word... Including update level?

What level OS X?

Any keyboard problems with other programs?

Have you installed any add-ins or other software recently?

Hi,
my thoughts are on hidden text or normal text color set to white, but
as Daiya has suggested we first need to know whether the keyboard is
working out of the WORD or not, can you confirm/disprove it?
First test the keyboard in TextEdit to make sure Word is the problem,
