Is there a way to use background pattern fill for just a text box?

Does anyone know if there is a way to use the background colors/textures in
just a text box and not the whole project? I have Publisher 2002.

Click on the little down arrow next to the Fill Color icon. Choose Fill
Effects. Have fun...
