Here is the problem:

User unable to open MS PowerPoint, using this method, opening powerpoint
program, Click on File, Click on Open, there no File View Windows display.
That would be same with user saving the files using File, Save As.

What we had done was, we did a Detect and Repair, also
Uninstall/Reboot/Re-Install. Tried to search for answer, unable to fine
answers.

The user is working it way around by using My Computer or Windows Explorer
and double click on the files to open and I not sure how this user saving the
files.

Looking for suggestions to try to resolve this problem.

Meaning you do not get the pop-up file window? Is this only in PowerPoint or
all Office Applications? What version of Windows?

This is something that worked to restore the Slide Finder dialog box for
some users (you know, the dialog that pops up when you choose
Insert|Slides|From File) awhile back. Can't guarantee that this will work,
but it's worth a try. Be sure to back up the registry before trying this!

Click Start, Run, Regedt32, OK
Allow full control to users of the following keys:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office\8.0
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\8.0
Security - Permissions - check "Allow inheritable permissions" - Allow full
control to all users.

Of course, do this for the keys for whatever version of Office you're
working with -- Office 2003 is 11.0.

This is incomplete information, I need more detail than getting to the part
of the registry to tweak it to be able to resolve this issue. Please give
more clear information. You had provided good information to where it is,
but not enough information to tweak this.

The suggested fix is not to make changes to those keys but to change
permissions so that the user (or software running under the user's login) can
make those changes.

In other words, use Regedit, navigate to the proper key for your version of
office, rightclick it, choose Permissions, set permissions as suggested.

Exactly.

Okay, well, this user have full permission. Since their account is in the
local administrator group. Tweaking the registry may not seems to be the
solution. Looking at my registry, if the user is a local administrator
group, then they have all the needed permission. I believe that it something
else in the registry.

Thanks for the replies.

That's my interpretation of the suggestion below. Hope that helps.
