I installed Publisher 2003 around November 1. I cannot print select
..jpg files and have been unable to resolve the problem. Some .jpg
files are squeezed and print twice in the selected graphic box.
Microsoft's last suggestion was to convert my files to .gif (which
printed OK) and/or reduce the resolution of the .jpg files. These are
not solutions, but "work-arounds." Help. I've spent at least 6 hours
on the phone and three times this in consultations and trouoble
shooting.
1. My system is a PC using W/2000 using a HP deskjet 5650 purchased in
August 2003.
2. I can draw a graphic box (example) 4" x 6" and place a .jpg file in
this box. When the page is printed out, the graphic is squeezed &
printed twice in the 4 x 6" box, one on top and one underneath. From a
hard copy, I scanned and produced a pdf file for illustration.
3. Not all .jpg files are affected. Likewise the printing of the bad
files takes 8-10 times longer than normal printing. There have been
no problems with clip art.
4. The graphics appear good on the screen and also using the Print
Preview function.
5. The two graphics in question are file size 310 kb and 101 kb.
6. I copied the two files in question to my other PC and both graphics
printed out perfect using Publisher 2000.
7. The files print out perfect with Microsoft Word
8. I removed the installed printer on my main PC and reinstalled with
no success.
9. We accessed Paint to display the graphics and they printed all
right.
10. We went to Tools, Options and Print to check the box for "Print
Line by Line" with no success.
11. After numerous tests and checking, MS felt it may be a HP problem
and suggested I call HP.
12. HP ran their tests and could not find any problem. They said I
have the latest drivers. They suggested I reinstall Publisher 2003.
13. I removed the printer and reinstalled the printer twice – once
from the CD and once from the HP download. The problem continued.
14. I removed Publisher 2003 and reinstalled. There was no change in
the printing. The problem continued.
15. All other print functions work fine to include all other software
we have in use.
16. We don't know if this is a Microsoft Publisher 2003 problem or a
HP problem. Each company says the problem belongs to the other one and
denies responsibility.
