How do I keep a caption with a picture when the picture layout is to the
right of the text in the document?

How do I keep a caption with a picture when the picture layout is to the
right of the text in the document?
The easiest way is to put both the picture and the caption in the same
"container". Since you don't tell us which version of Word you have, it's
difficult to give you a "best" answer, but here's an approach that works in
all versions of Word.

- insert the picture
- make sure it's formatted "in line with the text", in its own line
- make sure it's selected
- display the FORMS toolbar
- click on the "Frame" tool
- make sure the picture is still selected
- press Right-arrow
- press ENTER
- Insert the caption
