Labels

I want to use a data source to merge into labels. When I do this in
Publisher each person information displays on one full sheet of labels. I'm
trying to get one sheet of labels with everyones name on a single label? I
can do this in Word, but not Publisher. What am I doing wrong?

Have you actually printed a sheet or are you just looking at the Print
Preview? PP is a deceiving little critter. ;-)

I was looking at Print Preview. I'll go back and actually print. I'll let
you know. Thanks

Hello again, I went back to print out and yes they print out with one
persons name on one full sheet of labels. I'm looking to print all the names
in the data source on one sheet. Any Help?

This question comes up over and over. The reason is that Mail merge will
print one output record per page. Therefore if you use a template or wizard
for the label, it propagates the same label (read that as page) to fill the
label sheet. How can this be overcome and have multiple records on the same
physical output sheet? The procedure is simple:
First don't use a label wizard or template. Start from scratch with a
blank sheet and follow the two steps below.
1. Under setup page size, create a blank page that is the size of one -
ONE - label. The same advice applies to postcards, raffle tickets, etc...
2. Under page setup, select the option for 'Change Copies Per Sheet',
click on 'Multiple Copies Per Sheet'. This option can also be specified from
the Print Merge menu. Under this same menu adjust for margins and vertical
gap.

Use the right tool for the job. Use the Mail Merge function
in MS Word. Labels are a cinch.

You make a good point about using the right tool for the job. Publisher is
an excellent tool for this type of work. It's easy and quick to accomplish a
task such as custom label printing using mail merge. Using the right tool
also entails learning/knowing HOW to use that tool. This is true as much
with software as it is with woodworking or other tasks. Unfortunately far
too many users aren't able to perform a task unless it is already laid out
for them with a template or wizard. Therefore they fall into the trap of
believing something can't be done when it is in reality a very simple task.
I believe in showing users how to accomplish a task rather than telling them
to use a different piece of software.
