landscape printing business cards

K

KenB

my previous version of publisher I could print 12 to a page landscape for the
bus. card section, now in publisher 2007 it only prints two rows of 4 ( also
previews only this ) and leaves the last row blank.... I don't won't to
change as I have cutting equipment that only cuts this way
I talked to a Microsoft tech and he took over my computer online and was not
able to correct the problem, he gave up ..... I have been waiting for a fix
but nothing so far.... anyone else experience this problem

Try creating your own blank card.

File / Page Setup...enter 3.5" width - 2" height...OK.

Add your graphics / text

Now try going to...File / Print Setup / Landscape / Multiple

File, page setup, Advanced on the right, Layout type--Multiple pages per sheet;
Custom page size, Sheet width-- 11" Sheet height -- 8.5 zero margins, Page--Type
3.5" Width, 2" Height.
I don't know what your margins are, but this layout will show 12 cards in the
mini preview.

How exactly are you laying out the cards? The previous post shows 12 cards, only
the margins haven't been adjusted. Are you using 2007?

FWIW.....Here's a screenshot of my print
dialog when using the setup I suggested:

Publisher 2007 12 per page

Once again.....

Try creating your own blank card.

File / Page Setup...enter 3.5" width - 2" height...OK.
(enter these dimensions in the right pane)

Add your graphics / text

Now try going to...File / Print Setup / Landscape / Multiple

I have tried with Publisher 07 and the beta publisher 2010...the program will only allow 10 business cards per sheet.

Did you set it to "Landscape" orientation?

Are you following the instructions? Or are
you beginning with a pre-formatted template?

I didn't see anything there about 2007 OR 2010 set up for cards. I really
don't understand why they took something that was so very simple and made it
so very difficult!

DId you ever get an answer that worked for you???? I've tried everything that
people suggest here and nothing works for me!! I print all of the business
cards for our company and later on this year they're going to MAKE us switch
to 2007 and I cannot make this work on my home 2007 'puter.

Listen people...do not waste your time with this problem. I have been using Publisher for years and I can tell you no matter what Microsoft tells you...you cannot get 12 up out of the newer versions. The last version that was able to print 12 up was Publisher 2003....I suggest you do a custom install with Office 2007 and continue using 2003.

File, Page Setup, Advanced on the right. Select
Multiple pages per Sheet, Custom Paper size, Type, 11
width 8.5 height. Page, type 3.5 width, 2 height. Type
..25 side and top margins. This will give you 12 cards
per sheet.

THANK YOU, MARY!!!!!!!!!! I did every step you said EXCEPT the Custom Paper
Size---I was doing regular landscape (which SHOULD be the same because it
SHOULD be then 11 wide by 8.5 high) and it would not work---just that little
step of using Cusom Paper made all the difference in the world!!! I will
never understand why they made it so difficult to figure out something that
used to be so simple....but I guess they have their reasons! But I DO THANK
YOU for helping with this!!!!!! I was starting to panic at the thought of
this not getting worked out b4 we go company-wide with '07! Thanks
again---you've made my day!! Have a great weekend!!

Hey, Al---You sound as frustrated as I was....BUT I just tried Mary's last
suggestion---(I thought I had already tried all that----but there was one
little thing she did differently) Instead of just changing the orientation
to landscape (which to me is the logical thing!) we now do CUSTOM and make
the paper size 11 wide by 8.5 tall......I have NOT ANY CLUE why it makes a
difference, but it really does!! I worked on this for hours the other night
experimenting with everything imaginable....and I just tried Mary's step by
step approach and it really does fit all 12 on. Hope this helps!! Have a
great weekend!! Bons
