Late start box is shaded in blue - what does this mean?

I am a new user and can't figure out what it means when the late start or
late finish cells are shaded in a light blue.

Jeff --

It sounds like you are using Microsoft Project 2007. If that is the case,
you are seeing a new feature called Change Highlighting. Any time you make
a change to the project schedule, the software will highlight in light blue
any task schedule information that has changed as a consequence, such as
Start, Finish, or Duration. As you now know, it also highlights Late Start
and Late Finish as well. When you save the project changes, the Change
Highlighting goes away until you make the next change. Hope this helps.
