Layout Problem Custom Bar Styles

I have marked a new Bar style for Flag1 and Milestone
this should provide me a Custom Style Bar

However it either defaults to Milestone standard (black diamond) or
disappears can anyone help?

Not fully explained I have tried to create 2 x custom milestones via
milestone & flag 1 and
milestone & flag 2

seems to be an idea that kills itself ie if you have more than this could be
an ask Microsoft thing - I normally workaround such stuff but am knackered on
this one
