Leveling on selected resources

Leveling automatically tries to resolve 'all' resource overallocations. In
this case I am only interested in resolving overallocations on a subset of my
resources. Is there a way to do that in MS-Project, i.e. select the
resources that you want to level?

Hi David,

Yes, you can. As you said, go to a resource view and select the resources
that you want to level.

On top of Gerard's advice: you can specify once and for all which resoruces
you want to level.
Insert the column "Can Level" and set to No where required.

Jan,

Are you saying I can set the "Can Level" field from the Resource View, then
when I level the entire plan, it will only level the task associated with the
resources whose "Can Level" flag is set to Yes? This would be a great
function for me.

Jan - I was completely unaware of this feature - I just tried it and it works.
Thank you very much!
David.

Hi,

To tell you guys the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth: I
too had completely forgotten about it till a Project Server customer
complained Leveling didn't work at all: mistery... till I found out that in
the Enterprise resource pool somebody had set Can Level to No for ALL
reosurces...

Greetings,

Thanks for your candor. That's what I like about you. As one of those who
answers questions every day in the Project Server newsgroup, I can guarantee
that doing so is only an opportunity to look like a "doofus" in front of the
whole world and then to "eat crow" when I give a wrong answer. Do know
this, my MVP friend, your hard work and kind sharing in this newsgroup is
always appreciated! :)

Personally, I think all of you are wonderful to spend your time getting the
rest of us out of trouble or helping us be productive. It takes a special,
kind person...

Prairie Smoke --

I like your "handle" and I like your attitude! :) Thanks for the kind
compliment.
