Limit selecting files

This applies to all apps running on WinXP. When trying to select files in a
dialog box Windows comes back with the message that I've exceeded the limit
of the number of files I can select.

Is this limit based on characters, no. of files, what is the limit, can it
be changed, increased? I know this apparently was a problem in NT 4, but I
thought it was fixed!

Thank you in advance.

This is a newsgroup for assisting users with issues pertaining to MS
Office application. There are also groups for the Windows XP operating
system.

Thanks for your reminder, however after spending an hour looking for that
group, and not being able to find it, I decided that because it also
happenend in all "Office" programs to post it here.

So if anyone knows why this message pops up when I try to select files in
any office program I would appreciate the advice.

I don't know where or how you were looking, but it took me only a few
minutes to find a suitable group. Asking in a Windows XP group is much
more likely to get you a useful answer. If you must use that horrible web
interface, in the left panel, expand English, then Redesigned List, then
Windows, then Windows XP. "General" is probably the best choice for this
question.
