Limit what can be viewed

Hi,

I have a comprehensive project which I need to restrict what some people can
view. I am searching for a way where I can protect certain views with a
password or simillar and only have some views open for view by anyone.

Is it possible with a simple setting or will I need to do it by VBA code?

Thanks

if they do not need to update/modify/work on your schedule, just give them a
hard copy (.pdf .gif .jpg...),or you need project server/ PWA. They can give
you more control of access right.

VBA code itself can be protected by password, but it is too weak, easy to
crack.
if i can modify the vba code, how can it protect you project.

Sorry, if someone can open the mpp project plan file at all they'll have
access to the whole thing. If you use Project Server to allow others to
view the plan and have users other than the project managers viewing the
plan with Project Web Access you have more control but unless you have a
whole portfolio of projects and numbers of managers and users it wouldn't be
reasonable to install Server just to have that facility. A better bet, for
the users whole only should see a limited set of views, is to print the
views you want them to have to pdf files and send that those but not allow
them access to the project plan itself. That's not so unreasonable - after
all, how many people in your firm have access to its business plan for the
next 3 years?

Thanks, Thought this might be the case. The programme I have is for a
client on a project with three contractors, amd the client does not want to
give too much information about the methodology of one contractor to their
competitor on site. I'll just have to set an icon to print to PDF
automatically.

Maybe in the future a system of being able to lock summary tasks so that
they cannot be expanded may help to a degree, bearing in mind of course that
Project is really just a database and the data is accessible through Access
or simillar.

Thanks again
