Line drawing animation

I am new to Powerpoint so please for give me if this questions sounds silly!
I want to do draw some training drawings of piping and towers. I want to show
the flow through the vessel, how can I do this. I want the "flow" to move to
show the differing directions of flow, is this possible and how do I do it? I
am using Powerpoint 2003.

You could use shapes with motion paths. (slide show > custom animation

motion path > custom or possibly cover the line with a shape with background

fill and use a wipe exit animation. If this sounds a little complicated there
