Line Spacing

Hey all,

So the line spacing on Microsoft Word is messed up and I'm not sure why. Even when my line spacing is set to "single space", my text appears in "1.5 space". Also, my "before" and "after" space settings are at 0, so I know that isn't the problem. The problem may have occurred because I pasted an unknown font onto a word document and then saved it, but I'm not sure.

Is there a way to restore Word to its default settings?

Thanks, and I really appreciate your help!

What if you create new blank doc & type a few lines - is the spacing off
there or just in the one file? If it's occurring in all files reply to that
effect in order to pursue it from a different direction. If it's a problem
only in the one file;

Turn on the non-printing characters (¶ button or Command+8) to see if that
mark as well as others appear at the end of each line. If it does or if you
see something like:

line of text¶

another line of text¶

another line of text¶

It indicates that you have empty paragraphs sandwiched in between the lines
of text. The "extras" will need to be removed using Edit> Find & Replace. If
this applies post back including specific details about what the text &
markers look like for ideas on how to do get them out.

If the problem is only in the one existing file but doesn't have the extra ¶
marks your guess about pasting content - especially if it was copied from a
web site - is probably right on the mark. Try this:

Key Command+A to select all, cut the content, then in a new blank document
use Edit> Paste Special - Unformatted Text.

If these suggestions don't correct it or if it's happening in more than the
one file, reply with details as described above. Also, completely describe
the results of any actions you take based on these suggestions. Make sure to
indicate your exact version updates of both OS X & Office.
