Link to PowerPoint from Excel

I have an Excel list of links.
All links to PowerPoint (.ppt) files open in a modified slideshow view
The same files opened via Windows Explorer or directly from PowerPoint come up in "normal" view

Is there a way to have PowerPoint files open in the normal edit view from a hyper link in Excel
