Linking Milestones from Proj A to Proj B

Need to bring milestones from Proj A over to Proj B and then use them in Proj
B to drive tasks there. I have Project 2003. Proj A is prepared by a
different team, but Proj B work depends on their Milestones.

I 'copy cell' from Proj A and 'paste link' into Proj B. Initially, that
seems to work OK. I save project B first then close it. I then close Proj A,
without saving as it is not my project.

Problem is, when I re-open Proj B, I get messages that say things like, LINK
xx cannot be established between Proj A and Proj B.

I did not change anything in my Proj A or Proj B to sever a link. And, I
cannot determine which milestone in Proj B is identified with the Link xx.

Any ideas? Does this linking work in Project 2003? Doesn't seem to.

Thanks

Open Proj A and Proj B. Then from the Proj A window, click Window/New
Window and select Proj B. Arrange the windows by Windows/Arrange all.

Double click on the name of the task you want to link to and click on
the predecessor tab.

In the ID column type the name of the origin of the link including a
reference to the project. In your case this you would have opened the
Task Information box for a task in Proj B and would type "Proj A\2" (if
you wanted that link to originate from task 2 of Proj A. You could also
type "Proj A\task name".

Note that after you do this, you shouldn't move files around as the link
will break.
