linking tasks across projects

Hi all,

I have 8 IT streams of work all with their own ms project plans. I want a
master plan but with only certain tasks showing from the 8 streams to enable
me to group them in such a way to show the business streams.[ grouping will
be done by the group function in ms project which I kinow how to do.]


i've tried importing projects but it imports the whole proj as expected.
All I want are certain tasks.

You could create a Master Project of all the projects, then filter that
for just the tasks you want to see in your "8 streams" view. I don't
recall being able to Group in a filtered view though. Not sure how you
could accomplish that.
