Links in Outlook E-mail

I recently purchased a new computer with Windows 7 installed. I have
installed my Office Professional Plus 2007 Suite.

I can send and receive e-mail just fine. However, if I try to use any link
in any e-mail that I receive, I have a problem. Originally, I was getting an
error message that told me the file extension was unknown and I was given an
option to search for a program. The program would be internet explorer.
This would then add a specific file association for that one link in my
default programs.

I have spent hours on the phone with the computer manufacturer (I can't talk
with Microsoft becuase Windows 7 was on the computer when I bought it) and
hours trying to figure this out myself. I added Google Chrome as a browser
and now when I click on a link I automatically get an option to select either
Chrome of IE to open the link.

This is driving me crazy. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
