I tried configuring my new email with a @live extension using Microsoft
office outlook however it did not recognize it and i had to go back using
@hotmail instead.
Any ideas on how to fix this or do i have to wait for an outlook update
using windows update?

You need the latest version of the Outlook connector. I have several live
accounts working in Outlook.
