Lock File?

Access 2000 Database with linked "split" data file.
For security purposes, recently stored the "split" data file in Cypherix
"Cryptainer ME," on a separate volume, maintaining the database (which
requires no encryption) on another volume, with the "split" data file linked
to the database.
No problem in opening the database in Access, accessing and working the
linked "split" data file on the separate volume, closing the database and
Access.
In attempting to close the "Cryptainer" containing the worked "split" data
file results in a "files still open" error.
Cypherix reports similar problems with MS Office programs (eg. Word) and to
maintain the security of the files, all files within Cyrptainer need to be
closed to permit Cryptianer to encrypt and close.
I have located a "lock" file while Access is open, but this file disappears
when Access is closed.
I have tried a "combined" data file-database method within Cryptainer and
the data is processed perfectly, but after closing the database and Access,
Cryptainer provides the same error message.
My work-around is to CUT the "split" data file from Cryptainer and PASTE it
onto the volume and into the folder containing the database (I have re-linked
the "split" data file's then location to the database). Copying, instead of
cutting, it out still causes the error message.
After the "split" data file is worked, I close the database and Access and
CUT and PASTE the "split" data file back into Cryptainer and close the
Cryptainer. Leaving the original of the worked "split" data file on the
computer, causes the Cryptainer to report the same "files open" error,
leading me to believe that some type of "lock" file, or connection to the
original worked "split" data file, still exits, causing the "files open"
error. Apparently two copies of the same file on any volume on the computer
cannot exist, without causing the error.
Does anyone have a better work-around, or answer for me?
