long path names

I've got a file name on the server with a pathname of 113 characters and I
can't open it anymore from the server.
When we copy the file to the desktop, it can be opened,
but when it's put back on the server it doesn't open anymore.
When we change the filename it doesn't work also,
but when the filename is shortened then it works again.

I thought that the pathname could be 256 characters
or am I wrong in this one??

Tough to say what all is involved, and if it is even an MS Office issue.
It sound more like a path issue and your server setup. Try one of the
server groups per chance?
