Looking for new "tracking system" for in house marketing departmen

Hi,

I am looking for a tracking/management system for a small in house marketing
department (16 - 20 people) of an insurance firm. What we need is for the
database/program to do is generate a job ticket (or open a new project and
assign a number), create schedules and track the job as it goes through the
creative process. We also would like to be able to generate reports based
upon expenses, volume, budget, and resources (like printers that put in for
print jobs vs. those who received them).

I hope this makes sense. What I'm wondering is if anyone is using Microsoft
Project to do similar work? How it is working out? The difference between
the standard and the professional.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Gidget

Hello gidget,

I would not suggest Project for this purpose. I think database would be
more suitable. Downside is you'll need to find someone to develop the
database application for you.

Project is a very good *project* management scheduling software, tracking
ongoing work and work tickets would be, in my opinion, very cumbersome. The
difference between Project Standard and Project Professional is Standard will
not communicate with Project Server. Professional will communicate with
Project Server.

I'm sure others will weigh in with their opinions as well.

Julie
