Lost connection between Share Point and Word

B

Barb Hyde

After updating my Windows XP to SP2, my Office to SP3, and Share Point to
SP1, I can no longer open Word DOC files in SharePoint. I get this message:
"Edit Document requires a Windows Share-Point Services-compatible
application and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher."

I need to make Share Point recognize Word again.

I am using
IE 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158
Word 2002 (10.6612.6626) SP3
Windows XP Version 5.1 (build 2600,xpsp_sp2_rtm.o40803-2158: Service Pack 2)

I can still open PDF, Visio, and notepad documents through SharePoint
I tried remaking the File Type connection between Word and the DOC files,
but that didn't help.

Barb Hyde,
A question for you, what was your update path? oldest program to newest? If
you updated Windows first to SP2, could be the problem. You should post as
well to your appropriate server community:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/community/default.mspx
or:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/default.mspx
the above group(s) may have information relevant to your system setup you
can find by doing a search first.
