Lost Inbox Files

C

Clay Dreslough

I just rebooted by WindowsXP Machine (running MS Outlook)
and got the error message that I need to run the "Inbox
Repair Tool". Thanks to some online searching, I was able
to find this tool on my computer ("C:\Program
Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\SCANPST.EXE")

Unfortunately, I have no idea which file to run it on.

Back when I was on Windows2000, all my Inbox-related
files were labeled '.pst' and were in my c:\outlook
folder.

Now, I did a search for all '.pst' files and I didn't
find ANY files from within the last 12 months or so.

Did Microsoft chance the file extension for my
primary 'inbox' files? Are the files hidden? If so, how
do I find and repair all of my inbox data?!

Please reply offline with help, or with a pointer to a
web site that steps me through this.

Thanks!

Clay

The pst is a hidden file, by default in the Docs and
Settings Folder group

Thanks! I checked the search box for 'hidden files' and
was able to find the current .pst.

And the Inbox repair tool restored my inbox (although
it's now called 'Recovered Folder 8082' and can't be
moved, but that's a much smaller issue).
