Lost Word fie template

J

Jean

A word file was created with a unique template that contained a macro for navigating the file. The template was accidently COMPLETElY removed from the system. Word thinks the file no longer exists. Can I recover this file at all? (I don't know the original template name)

Thanks for any assistance

If it was deleted recently and you have not done much on the PC that may
have overwritten the space the template occupied, it may still be sitting on
your hard drive waiting to be recovered, for which purpose you'll need file
recovery software. The fact that you don't know what it is called makes
things difficult, but a good place to start looking would be for deleted
files in the templates folder.

On the other hand, it might be easier (and certainly cheaper) to rebuild the
macro from scratch.

Thanks, Graham.

After trying various suggestions, including yours, I finally transferred the file to another PC and opened it successfully there ...

Appreciate your response, though! You MVPs are invaluable
