Is there some way of finding a Word document that I
didn't save?

Very unlikely. Have a look in your temp folder - you may
find some files which have the Word icon but are .tmp.

Otherwise, if you didn't save your file and your computer
had to be restarted before you had a chance to even close
Word, Word should recover the file.

If you didn't save it, there's nothing to find. Word runs a few temp files
but the chances of getting anything from them are virtually nil and you
would need file recovery tools to even attempt to get those back.
