Macros for BibleSoft

Supposedly, there is a Macro in Word 97 or Word 2000 for
use with BibleSoft. It makes it so that you can type the
Bible Reference on the Word document, and it imports that
verse from the BibleSoft database.

My problem: I have Word 2002 and the macro function is
disabled.

Does anyone know how I can get a copy of Word 2000?

Or how I can enable the macros in my 2000 application?

If someone has 2000 I'd be willing to trade or do a
mutual buy/sell.

I'd like an e-mail response to (e-mail address removed)

Thanks

Wow! If you come up with that macro, I'd really love to have a copy!

You probably have your macro security setting on High. Isn't that under
Tools somewhere ? If nothing else, go to Help and ask about macro security.
It should tell you how to turn them on. (I would, but I've got Word 2000,
and some of these menus changes just enough to totally confuse someone.)

(BTW, a newsgroup posting usually yields a newsgroup response. After all,
that's what the group is for.)

The macro you are referring to is part of a file named GetRef30.dot which
should be in the Program directory of Bible Soft. This is the same directory
where you find the executable for Bible Soft (joshua.exe).
GetRef30.dot is a word template that contains the macro you were talking
about, and does exactly what you were saying. It allows you to type a
reference such as Genesis 3:1-5 in your Word document, then running the
macro calls up Bible Soft (PC Bible) and automatically inserts the Bible
text next to your reference.

In Word 2000, which I have, you click on Tools, Macro, Security to enable
macros. You'll have to select either medium or low for the macros to work.

During the install, it is possible to permanently disable VBA and
macros (you just don't install it, nothing will ever run).

Also, on the Tools/options/ dialog, look at the tab called
"Security". If it is set to HIGH, few if any macros will run.

Should this template be placed in the startup folder so it's
available to all documents?

Here's how to install the macro for use with Microsoft
Word and PC Study Bible. When you open the Word document
with the Install button, read it in its entirety. It
will explain what the macros do and how to use them.

1. Choose START

2. Move up to (All) Programs

3. Move over to PC Study Bible

4. Choose "Install Copy Macros. . ." from this menu.

5. If prompted, choose "Enable Macros".

6. Find and double-click the INSTALL button in this
document

===By The Way===

I also had some struggles with Word after I installed the
macro on the 2000 version. (Microsoft Word from Office)

There is an option on the menu for Macros and one for
Record Macros. (This is the menu under Tools from the
main menus in Word.)

I thought it wanted me to record the macro. Not so.
After the macro was installed, it was also recorded.
What the recording utility is for is so after a person
creates a new macro, one can name it. Then under
Options, in Tool Bars, you can assign the macro a button
to add to the toolbar on the main document screen.

What I have done is to copy the macro into my normal template. I also made a
few minor changes to it so it would work better with Word. Sometimes when I
tried to run the macro and PC Bible wasn't already open, the macro would
prompt me, asking if I wanted to open PC Bible. Most times it failed at this
task. The changes have the macro check to see if PC Bible is running or not
first, and then it opens PC Bible if it is not already open. Then it runs
the code that does the verse insertion and returns to the Word document.
