mail inbox cannot open 'mail'

I have transfered my outlook data file from another machine
Win XP office pro 2003
done all the updates
since 2 weeks I have a problem in my inbox
I can see some lines in Inbox indicating that there is mail, but this line
is not accessible and cannot be deleted, in fact there is no subject, from,
size.... to be seen I tried repair tool, doesn't work
And I know I lost some mails in the process

May I ask 2 questions. First how did you back up from the other machine and how did you import that backup into this one.
Secondly. How many and what do you have in your folder containing the ..pst files

made a copy of data file from one machine to the other, pointed to the new
data file, there is mail, contacts, calendar, tasks, notes

data file is 174609kb

I have searched all websites I could find, but no sollution so far
